LAS VEGAS RED DOG

The idea for this came from ACEY DUCEY in
David Ahl's BASIC COMPUTER GAMES.  The
rules and instructions are from various
Las Vegas casino handouts.

 "RED DOG is an exciting, fast paced and"
 "easy to play game that is often called"
 "Acey-Ducey or In-Between."

 "Two cards are dealt face up. If the two"
 "cards are not consecutive or a pair,"
 "the dealer will announce the 'spread',"
 "or number of cards that fall between"
 "the two original cards."

 "At that point you may raise your bet up"
 "to the amount of your original bet."

 "The dealer will then turn up a third"
 "card.  You win if the value of this"
 "card is between the values of the"
 "first two cards."

 "Payoffs are made according to the"
 "number of cards in the spread."

 "If the spread consists of only one card"
 "the bet pays 5 to 1. For a two card"
 "spread, the bet pays 4 to 1."

 "For a three card spread, the bet pays"
 "2 to 1. For a spread of between 4 and"
 "11, the payoff is 1 to 1."

 "If the first two cards are consecutive"
 "the hand is a tie, you do not win or"
 "lose, and the third card is not drawn."

 "If the first two cards are a pair, you"
 "may not raise your bet.  A third card"
 "is drawn, and, if it makes three of a"
 "kind you win 11 times your bet."

 "If the card does not make three of a"
 "kind, the hand is a tie and you do not"
 "win or lose."

 "To quit input a negative bet."

REDDOG is a relatively new game in Las Vegas
and a good way to lose your money fast.

This is a 6 deck version.  The program can be
easily changed for any deck configuration.

The program was initially written in PBASIC
directly on the Portfolio over the course of
two evenings while I was TDY and was my
first experience in programming in quite a
while.  ZIP and CIS comm was done on my desktop.
